Studio Project - More bits for the pottery
Love making all the small stuff for rooms cos I think that makes them more real. So here's the latest offering to spice up the pottery. Still need to make the kiln and wheel, but hey-ho there's always another day.
Mini pinboard with printed items including;
- Glazing colour chart
- Glaze colour chips
- Which clay ? chart
- Kiln Firing chart
- Couple or flyers for events
- 2 photos of vases taken from a free catalogue
These are some of the books using my FREEBIE printable covers.
Tools are from cocktail sticks and metal off the top of a wine bottle, secured with silver parcel tape.
The clay boxes are actually filled with clay wrapped in cling film to add weight.
The plastic boxes came filled with mini beads but are now filled with 'clay' (powdered clay is actually face powder, ground pastels and talcum powder)
Feeling generous, another FREEBIE
This time I haven't even made the books up yet myself but I thought you may like some more to be getting along with so here they are.... Stained Glass making books for my glass making studio.
Again please do not sell or pass off as your own, Free for personal use only.
FREEBIE - Pottery books
As before I decided to make some books and magazines for my potters. I mean who doesn't like to read about your hobby right?
These are shared for personal use only, do not sell them or pass them off as your own work.

Studio Project - Nearly finished Carpenter Workshop
Another room done although as you all know it's never really done, there's always one more thing to do!
LHS - Sawhorses made from lollysticks. Pegboard is balsa wood with tiny panel pins holding on Tibetan charms (bought in eBay), and homemade ruler and square, and 3D printed plane. The unit at the back is all balsa wood and lollysticks, stained and aged with shoe polish. The jars are pony beads and buttons filled with various beads etc to simulate nails etc.The bench drill is 3D printed and is sat on the broken chair which came in the set used in the art studio.
RHS - The bench is already covered in a previous post. The waste wood bin is from a kids sweet tub called Toxic waste, spray painted with rust tones.
Studio Project - Finished art studio
There's lots I could say but this blog was started after the art studio was finished so there's not so much for me to say except if anyone wants to know how I made stuff please comment and I will try to answer you. I have tried to put a brief synopsis below
LHS view - Art on the walls from Google, table is a 99p store one treated with shoe polish and paint, curtains are old scarves mounted on chopsticks to create a backdrop for the paintings. Rug is frayed upholstery sample, spray cans were 3D printed. Chair and white table were from a doll house clearance bin at a local mini fayre and easel was bought from eBay. The paintbox is foamboard with holes punched in it and filled with plasticine.
RHS view - Small unit in the corner was bargain off eBay, mannequin was 99p in The Works, various frames have come from different scrapbook stores and The Range.
FREEBIE - Art books
To fill the shelving I made I wanted to have a selection of books on famous artists, as well as books on painting techniques so I scoured the internet but couldn't find full covers only front pictures.
So I got the front covers, added plain backs and then using Photoshop created spines from the front pages so that they look real.
I then cut pieces of card to fill in the 'pages' from junk packaging and voila, lots and lots of arty books to read!
Please feel free to download these images for your own personal use, but do NOT sell them or pass them off as your own work. Thanks x
Studio Project - More art supplies
This time I built everything from scratch.
The bookcase is card covered with lolly sticks and painted white.
The open box of paint tubes is a mini printie which I textured to give the impression of 3D tubes. I also made some paint tubes from the metal end of make up brushes (that hold the hair in) with labels I made glued on.
The boxes of pencils and sketch books are also online printies ( will try to find the links later) and all the books are made by me from covers found online.
Anyone who wishes to use these (for their own projects, not to sell please) I will be including a FREEBIE on the next post.

Studio Project - Art supplies
As you can tell I jump around a lot from one area to another. My hubby says I have a very short attention span, and I think hes right.
But never mind, nothing ever gets boring!
So today I made some paint brushes and paint cans. The labels are from the internet and the pots are mini paintpots with their connectors and lugs removed. The brushes are cocktail sticks, real hair from makeup brushes and some copper tape ( that's used to keep slugs off your pot plants).

Studio Project - Carpenters Bench
The sanding machine is also 3D printed then painted and the sanding belt is a torn off piece of emery board. The screwdriver is tibetan jewellery finding with the loop removed and painted with nail polish. The vice is another £d model.
Studio Project - Pottery shelving
All potteries need a drying rack and somewhere to store pots for shipping so I made these from coffee stirrers and thin lolly sticks.
The vase is 3d printed (I'm lucky that hubby bough me one a couple of years ago) but will be painted to look like raw clay later.
Studio Project - Repainting
It may be hard to see in this picture but I have now removed all traces of pink from the house and replaced it with textured wallpaper with added horizontal grooves which makes it look like painted bricks. Also covers up a few uneven patches.
The floor was painted with stone textured spray paint. A bit messy but the effect seems to work for an industrial building.
I considered putting stairs in each room but decided it would take up too much space so there will be fake doors on each back wall which will (in my mind anyway) link to a rear stairwell. Also planning to use the attic space as a little bathroom, as all arty people still need to use the loo!!
Studio Project begins
I found this doll house in a charity shop for £30 which I thought was v reasonable as it is sound, just very PINK.
The rooms are big though and with larger industrial windows I can see it becoming a studio. Just need to get it repainted!
